Funny story: I was working on a CMYK image and made a back up RGB version for preview. I then mistakenly emailed the CMYK version which, when previewed via web browser, looked horrible.

Long story short, I now know why Rubes and other comics have “horrible” colors. GoComics has been using CMYK versions and publishing them on the site without proper RGB conversion.

If you have a photoshop-esque image editor, copy the comics image file and convert from RGB to CMYK. It will look much closer to the newspaper print.

Now, if we can only convince GoComics into properly converting their colored comics, think of how many eyes we can save! ^_^

Huh, all this just because of the word “back-up”…

I prefer black and white comics anyways. More detail, saves time & money for everyone. More time make it more funny.

Ylden, I try to keep all in images in RGB until complete.

The little-known 12th commandment: Thou shalt not use magenta as a skin color.

Not sure that this can really be blamed on CMYK to RGB conversion - I think the colorist had a “screw it, the long weekend is almost here” philosophy. :-)

@Kirk McDonald, you do know that the lead time on syndicated comics is at least two weeks, right? I don’t think the colorist was thinking about the long weekend two weeks ago.

Why should it be a surprise that Moses backs up? After all, Jesus Saves…
