Justin explained a while back that a sad bear is just (generally) more funny than a manic one. I still think I remember one strip he was happy, tho.

And the natives are the local cannibals. Presumably, in accord with the strip’s theme, they have a large iron pot secreted somewhere for boiling the occasional missionary or clown or whatever.

Baslim, the cannibals are a couple of Myth-creants from way back. They seem to have a new look though.

“Cannibal” is a myth-nomer because they don’t eat each other.
