I guess the other teachers are more local and have home gardens to tend too. Delores, on the other hand, is from the city and does not have that means of extending her budget.
As I mention from time to time (when it feels like, um, certain things need explaining), my husband and his entire family are from Maine. While they for the most part fall within the clinically “normal” range, their ability to “supply up” and their proclivity to take those supplies out to canoes and….who knows what…remains a matter of wonderment to me. They’re not spring chickens. So, like FER SHURE, extra summertime employment is spoken in a foreign language to these folks (God bless ’em!).
Oh, and…while the wilderness is in my soul, the rest of me has never gotten very far from, well, let’s just say sidewalks and regular garbage collection.
