The reason we get such poor candidates is because the electorate is clueless about the issues and prefers reality TV over documentaries. We a dumbing ourselves down into a third world country status. Just a matter of time until we reinstate witch trials and lynchings.
I would say having a degree does not mean you are smart or indicate your ability to critically think. In fact our education system does a poor job teaching critical thinking and leans heavily towards regurgitation of facts with the testing we do.
