The reason we get such poor candidates is because the electorate is clueless about the issues and prefers reality TV over documentaries. We a dumbing ourselves down into a third world country status. Just a matter of time until we reinstate witch trials and lynchings.

I would say having a degree does not mean you are smart or indicate your ability to critically think. In fact our education system does a poor job teaching critical thinking and leans heavily towards regurgitation of facts with the testing we do. Critical thinking is harder to teach and test..When you think you know something, there is a good chance you have a blind spot. Think down..As far as education by political affiliation. Pew, April 2015..Education. Democrats lead by 22 points (57%-35%) in leaned party identification among adults with post-graduate degrees. The Democrats’ edge is narrower among those with college degrees or some post-graduate experience (49%-42%), and those with less education (47%-39%). Across all educational categories, women are more likely than men to affiliate with the Democratic Party or lean Democratic. The Democrats’ advantage is 35 points (64%-29%) among women with post-graduate degrees, but only eight points (50%-42%) among post-grad men..http://www.people-press.org/2015/04/07/a-deep-dive-into-party-affiliation/.Smart people question everything and look for supporting facts. Extremist think they know everything so they do not have to look for supporting facts or only look for facts that support what they know.
