The Snowden fiasco clearly showed the government is perfectly happy to spy on everyone. They are asking Apple to come up with a tool so they can do this again. The current IPhones if used right are really protected. Think about it, in order to prevent attacks they have to spy on everyone to find out which ones are the bad guys. They have quite a bit of capability already. They can’t see into the smartphone but they can see anything that leaves the phone, email, cloud based files, social accounts, etc.

Apple should at least give the FBI the information on that phone.

A U.S. magistrate’s order this week is forcing Apple to help build a “backdoor” into the iPhone. So exactly how safe is your data now? How much privacy should we have in the digital age? Does this order create a broader privacy threat?“The problem here is you’re dealing with a live investigation of a terrorist act; people have been murdered and there’s a very real threat posed to the country, perhaps with other cells planning more attacks. It’s not that government couldn’t eventually figure out how to hack the phone; it’s that they need this information immediately and don’t want to risk waiting.” NYC Litigator Darren Oved seems to be using the same rational we used to rush into Iraq. We need it because terrorism, don’t worry about the Constitution or rights at a time like this.If the least among us can not rely on our rights – do any of us have rights? If we can bend the rules because Muslim – what happens when they bend the rules because Christian? And why is it all of these keep your hands off my taxes – obamacare is socialism destruction Right wingers saying we should have this back door and no protection? When your values are tested just a little bit you just bend in the Fox direction every time?

Given what they actually can find in sources other than the I-phone in question in the San Bernardino case, I suspect this is more about a fishing expedition to see how far they can use “terrorism” and the “Patriot Act”, to invade not just the “privacy” of individuals, but the SECURITY of all of our freedoms. (And the whackier nut jobs in these agencies predate Obama by a long time.)

No, the FBI is asking only for access to this phone – in fact, they are happy if the customized OS affects only the phone in question. (This is technically feasible as they do have the unique ID of the hardware.) Furthermore, they are willing to deliver the phone to Apple in order that Apple’s guys can crack the phone, collect the data, and then reset the OS to as before – the custom code would never leave the Apple campus.

Actually, if she WAS using Apple OS, she’d be hundreds of times more secure than with Microcrash system. Also there are hundreds of attacks on the Pentagon daily by hackers, a lone server is far easier to defend.
