Borders and border security work well. It is only when you want them to be impregnable and perfect it becomes a problem. I don’t even know how anyone could do that. They tried to make the Berlin wall impregnable for many years but people still managed to breach it frequently and it turned out to be a huge waste to time and resources.

Nicely put, Mr. Pett.A further comment:1. In 2010, the population of Syria was about 21.5 million.2. There are now over 3 million who have fled Syria.3. There are now 6.5 million who are internally displaced within Syria.4. In Feb 2015, the death toll of the Syrian civil war was estimated to be over 200,000, with half of that being civilians.5. This is a serious human crisis.6. For refugee admittance, it presently takes two years to get through the US screening process.

A friend of my Brother was an escapee from Hungary after the revolution failed, thanks to Ike’s innaction to face up to Russia. I’ve met folks over the years from many right wing prosecutions in their home countries as well. The one bad apple out o several thousand refugees from Syria (and elsewhere) are worth considering as a threat, but vetting in far less than two years, the current practice, can separate out the bad apples.
