Problem is, Batson falls out of the boat and the wave created by the impact will carry oil 40 ft up the shore. Whales have less mass than Batson.

A dipstick reports on oil and then does nothing, a politician does nothing unless reporting on oil helps the campaign and a reporter sees reporting on oil as a way to interview the politician who is a dipstick and gets promoted. The oil sees this as a way to get out of that deep dark hole it has been in since A: God created it in that deep dark hole about 6000 years ago or B: when nature moved it and collected it millions of years ago. The oil doesn’t really care much for either theory, it just wants out of the deep, dark hole. If we could find a way to do without the thing that lurks in the deep dark holes and use the ultimate source of that energy we might have a bright future. Of course there are many dim wits, half wits, cheaters and liars that would much rather see the light at the bottom of a very deep, dark hole than to see the light in front of their faces. Solar now and into the future. Keep America strong and stop sending money overseas to people in deep, dark holes. Stop sending American jobs to foreign lands. We want work and we want American jobs for Americans. The sun shines bright and so can we if we can get ourselves out of that deep, dark hole and see the light.

Solar is very strong. But it is distributed too thinly to replace the concentrated energy that is in oil.

^^A kilowatt per square meter isn’t very thin. The trick is to collect it efficiently. PV’s are approaching 20%, and with some concentrating schemes, a bit better. So we put ‘em on pergolas across the sidewalks, on home, school, and factory roofs, anywhere we don’t need to grow plants. We put together a serious connection grid, right around the planet, and hook it all together, so anywhere that has sunshine supplies the rest that are under clouds or night. More at GENI.

I’m pretty sure the Gulf Coast has one too many slicks already, Senator.
