Gina’s teasing him. She likes him herself which is why she spends so much effort tormenting him. I don’t think she’s really “bad mouthing” Trudy, more like she’s teasing her too about her taste in boys.

I have to say, this is one of the few times that I fully sympathize with Nate, since I have been in his position in this type of situation before. Hope he doesn’t let Gina’s teasing get to him too much.
