Who was the famous lawyer who said he got his exercise by being pallbearer for his friends who exercised. I know the feeling! Two of my friends took up jogging ‘for their health’ and they were both dead within a couple years! (And neither one got run down by a truck!)

    I just looked it up.

    Chauncey Depew

At one time, President of the New York Central Railroad system.

Born in 1834 and lived to just a few days short of 94 years old.

That’s the BEST argument for NOT exercising that I’ve ever heard!!

His other famous quote: “A pessimist is a man who thinks all women are bad. An optimist is one who hopes they are.”

You’ve got a lot of exercise to do and a lot of pounds to lose before you can start feeling young again, Cosmo

Just flag it; never post about how you’ve flagged it because 1) It serves no purpose. We all know to flag it. 2) It tells the low life spammers that they’re reaching an audience. 3) It only encourages them.

Obesity does not happen over night; it just sort of snacks up on you…

Have you noticed that as the “ideal” weight postulated by the government and insurance industry gets a bit lower every year (to the point where many professional athletes without an ounce of fat on their bodies are rated “morbidly obese” by the official “Body Mass Index” scale), the general population’s getting fatter? Seems like a case of “well, if that’s the definition of ‘healthy weight,’ I’m doomed no matter what I do. Might as well kick back with a plate of ribs and a six pack and enjoy what time I have left…”

I love TVs and Hollywood weight standards. Exercise 6 hours/day and eat only salad with no dressing. If that’s life, what is Hell going to be?

Not only does the ideal weight keep going down, but so does the perfect blood sugar level, and cholesterol levels. I’m thinking it’s a plot by the pharmaceutical industry to keep us on meds for the rest of our lives, no matter how low our levels become until we experience complications from too low our levels, and then they’ll prescribe meds to raise our blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

The problem with ideal weight is that muscle is healthy and muscle weighs more than fat.
