When you create a society that believes in solving problems with guns, internationally and domestically, you get a lot of gun violence, including from the police who are supposed to protect.

Anyone who paid any attention knew this was going on. I remember seeing police rough people up back in the 60s. It was standard operating procedure. And a lot of Southern cops were part of the racist machine. We need police, and a lot of police do a good job, but the bad cops have been protected too long.

Of course no one cares that cops are being shot at, spit on, cursed at, and made to feel lower then a snakes belly. Watch the videos and see how much respect a cop receives, but see who complains about THEIR rights to humiliate others.

MUTUAL respect is what we need. Too bad some feels they must have more respect then the other.

Law enforcement tends to draw “authoritarian”, not necessarily “bully” personalities, to the police, and the bench as well.

Lonecat: I remember well the south back in the 60’s,, when having California plates and a Ft. Benning base sticker would get you harrassed constantly by the local police, stopped for doing nothing wrong but being there. It also reminds me of when our friend from base was arrested for armed robbery in Phoenix City, and beaten badly by the cops, because he was black. The fact that at the time of the robbery, he was in Los Angeles attending his mother’s funeral didn’t influence them. That one of our other friends was a personal friend of George Wallace, and called him to get John out of jail, may well literally have saved his life.

Seen the same type of discrimination against brown folks in Arizona and California INCREASING in recent years, and the right-wing anti-immigrant campaigns are directly responsible. Interesting to me that folks whose families have been in the area for over 200 years before white Anglos showed up, are the ones being harrassed, is perhaps the ultimate “reversal of fortune”??

Although Black men are getting it real bad, there’s a LOT of injustice going on in this country, like the rape of the middle class!
