sorry Clark but you are mistaken. the usual term for a grandfather’s brother is great uncle. therefore, great-great-uncle would be correct in Joe-Allen’s case.
i agree that “grand uncle” would seem to make more sense, but the language police didn’t ask for my opinion.
I liked becoming a “grand” father because it clearly implied I was great. Then I really got excited when I became a “great” grandfather because I’m now grand AND great!
