The Sun Bowl has been a staple on CBS for an afternoon football match in between Christmas Day and New Years between a couple of 6-5 or 7-4 football teams that missed out on the major bowls for as long as I can remember. Pat Summerall and then Vern Lundquist always seemed to be the play by play announcer though Brent Musburger showed up a couple of times with his gambling insight (you always knew which team Brent bet on by how he called the game and he let everyone know the spread and the over under in case you did not know).
