Yes, just good business – make your profits, and if you have to use some of them to pay for the damages, well you’re still ahead of the game.

Also it’s a good idea to use some of your profits to make TV ads about how much you care for America, the wilderness, and making the Country a better place to live.

“making the Country a better place to live.”

Now why would anybody want to do that?

Speaking of making places better to live

Compared to how much BP losses with this spill with the profits they generate every year, the costs of clean up is just a drop in the bucket.

    That assumes their shares recover.

    Jade:

Remember the Exxon Valdez? Exxon’s stock was trading at around $10 per share back then. Since then it has split twice and is currently trading over $60 per Share (it peaked around $95 in 07-08).

In 10 years, when this is a distant memory to everyone except those still trying to recover and save what’s left of the eco system on the gulf coast, BP will be just fine.

    Sigh.

Nice play on the “1984” phrase”“If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stomping on a human face – forever.”

Oh no doubt they’ll recover, I was more making a reference to the fact that their shares are already on the rise now.

It helps when you have an incompetent MMS which is cozy with oil regulators and the corporations themselves and a President who faced his worst week just a few days ago, finding out just how chummy he’s been with BP in the past.

This from the line of thinking that gave us, “we should get rid of this toxic chemical spill, by adding more toxic chemical dispersants to the water.”

We can’t see it so, all better!

Question to any Republicans in affected Gulf States: Are you still cheering the Supreme Court decision that Exxon didn’t have to pay $4B in punitive damages? I’d be willing to bet they want to do punitive things to BP right now… Bobby Jindal must have something to say about that, right?

free oil hits Florida! bring yr milk jugs and tea party flags, free oil! This is “free enterprise’ heaven- free oil, and no permits needed, no taxes to be paid, free oil f/the red states. GOD musta done it, free oil to Republican states.

Remember as sarin palin says: anyone who criticizes bp is “Un-american”. period.

    SHE HAS SPOKEN.

There is free oil in Alaska too! bp spilled there as well, (it’s a press black out so doan tell too many people), pump nine (on the TAPS) is leaking wildly. Free oil in Alaska too!

Thank you sarin for GIVING the oil fields to the Queen/bp, your payoff is over at Sir rubert murdocks place=foxnoose. (it could not be this rotten and corrupt could it?)

In fact, all the red states are giving away free oil. “maintenance is too expensive” as they do.. so, just stand near a pipeline and wait, they are giving it away. thanks bp
