We rarely book in advance when we are traveling, unless we plan on an extended stay in one location. If this is the case, we use Trivago to find a hotel, and so far it has worked well for us.
Besides, I like the guy on their commercials. He seems more like a regular guy instead of just a stuffed shirt.

What a rip-off. What that hotel needs is a visit from Travel Channel’s “Hotel Impossible” host Anthony Melchiorri.
