    Give the LGBT community all the benefits and protections associated with legal marriage, but can we just call it a legal union? Technically it is not a marriage as a marriage is a joining to procreate.

    “What we call marriage is a very recent thing. As in maybe 400 – 500 years.” 400-500 years isn’t very recent except in geology and plate tectonics.

    I was a kid in the 50’s. The population of the US was 150 million. I do not remember anyone complaining that we needed to double that figure. Now it’s 310 million. I don’t think procreation is a big worry.
