When I was a kid, if they had a warrant for your arrest a cop would walk up to your door during the daylight hours and knock on your door. Now they serve warrants for not paying parking tickets with swat teams and we’re supposed to believe nothing has changes with the police model.I’m surprised the cops haven’t tried to make it illegal for a cell phone to have a camera. They have tried to make it illegal to take media of them breaking the laws they’re supposed to enforce. I have no problem with good cops unless they’re protecting bad cops and most cops protect each other, good or bad.
There are a$$holes in every job, regardless of what that job is. To think the Police are immune to that is naive. That being said, criminals ARE criminals, and should be treated with the appropriate amount of disdain, and when officers are continually second-guessed, it makes their jobs that much harder. I’m just waiting for the day to come when police say #$*(@# you all and they walk off the job, letting everyone fend for themselves. Because at our current rate, I don’t think it’s very far off.
The majority of police officer are hard working citizens. All citizens should be protected from criminals. There is not going to be dialog and healing if people look at each other in generalizations and stereotypes instead of individuals.

Police officer is shot (right or wrong), there is a small little story about it a couple days later nothing.
A black kid shot (right or wrong), this story NEVER ends and riots begin.Again this is a fact, the proof is every single story I hear about a kid shot last for months and all kind of insanity follows, name 1 time it did not happen this way.Officer shot, it is a sad day, but then tomorrow comes that story is almost gone.
My son’s friend the Sheriff’s deputy is fortunately recovering with a broken neck after a perp attacked him during the arrest for drug sales and possible homicide. We’ve had other friends in law enforcement who did not survive their encounters with “bad guys”.
Yes, policing has become more conservative, aggressive and authoritarian since the Reagan years, armored cars for all is NOT a good idea, though night vision and some other “giveaways” may be good ideas, and less aggressive in increasing the violence.
A violent culture DOES breed violent reaction, our wars, and pretend “wars”, on drugs, terrorism, outraged Chihuauas, you name it; cries out for “tone it down a notch, Folks”! Escalating violence is the problem, not the cure.
There are two types of Cops:The Good, Honest ones and the Skunks in Blue who give all the rest a Bad name..Sadly, these days, the Skunks have succeeded in fostering an environment where even the Good Cops will keep quiet to avoid being called “Rats”..We need a new Cop Culture where it’s the Skunks in Blue who are despised..
