Before the usual responders: how many are killed every day by drive by shootings, or gang homicides, just because somebody “dissed” someone else? How many feuds like Hatfields vs McCoys are still alive right here in the U.S. today? American’s don’t exactly have the most illustrious of rationales for a lot of those daily murders, even if some are “relgious”.

WHAT? They were Muslims trying to kill innocent people???

I have to wonder if @dtroutma is a Jihadi Terrorist posting from Mecca.-IMO the government officials who should know better, beginning with GWBush, and the Media that will criticize a Republican/conservative to the doors of the Hot Place but won’t say anything to expose global murder based on Islamic writings, are like Bergen’s Mortimer Snerd…..speaking the puppet-master’s words.

Thank you Lisa for glorifying the dark side of the First Amendment. I have spent 20 years in the Army protecting this right. I see this event in the same light as the ‘stand on the flag’ challenge that has been going around. I support free speech even when it upsets me (like the college – flag standing protest) or when it may upset others (like the cartoons). But this event was not held to celebrate free speech or clever cartoons. It was held with the sole purpose of upsetting a specific group. Very childish. Note I do not excuse the response, nothing could. But the ‘cartoonists’ are not blameless or honorable.

Our police protect the fools and morons.

Sad but True: The people who Staged this event got Exactly what they wanted out of it.Fund raising is Through the Roof, thanks to the two morons who took the “Anti-Muslim” Bait..Because that’s what this was. A Stunt Designed to Anger Muslims and provoke a response that would bring the Anti Muslim Bigots the “Fame & Fortune” they so desperately want. Especially the fortune part.

My totally dittohead-“Rush is a god” friend challenged my (after two hours of Limbaugh) that if I didn’t like “W”, I should leave this county. I pointed out that unlike himself or anyone in his family-ever, I DID leave the country- joined the Army and fought in Viet Nam, Cambodia and Laos to defend it. My son joined and fought in Iraq, Bosnia, and elsewhere to defend it. My friend is first generation born in America on his paternal side, my paternal association on the continent to 1786, on my maternal side, our presence goes back roughly 12,000 years.

I merely asked him when anyone in his family would volunteer to serve in our military, or in any way put themselves at risk to defend it. He remained mute and stumbling.

I’ve spent over half a century defending this country, and serving it in various elected, appointed, and “employment” capacities, saving literally thousands of lives, and billions of dollars in natural resources for future generations. My kids have also served, in military and medical capacities; it’s just interesting how many “conservatives” remain unwilling to put their lives, not just their money, where their mouths are.

Those unwilling to admit our country’s mistakes, and willing NOT to repeat them, do continue to repeat them, and elect others who will make those mistakes for them, and profit.

btw: we’re only briefly into this century, but “good Christians” like the IRA had no problem committing murder for their religion, with far less provocation than a cartoon in the last.

A little accuracy please – it was a traffic officer with a Glock that took down the bad guys – not a SWAT team member.
