Shouldn’t a security guard make a point of knowing who (or what) is inside the cars he lets inside?

It’s no different than a military base. If you have a sticker on your car, you get waved on in. If it’s an officer’s sticker, you get waved in, then saluted. It doesn’t matter who is in the car!
