Because when you’re on the pitcher’s mound, it’s all downhill from there.

Some catchers just don’t catch on.

Catchers have way more company over there at home plate, no reason at all to get lonley. Plus going to the pichters mound gives you a chance to get away from angry people with bats and the evil umpire.

Plus it gives you a chance to stretch your legs!

Think of the walk the Reliever has…

Then the third baseman walks over and says to the catcher, “well, why don’t you ever come down and visit me? It’s always the pitcher you’re interested in.”
