Hmm… now is this is interesting. What is this specifically referring to? Some of them have relaxed hair which makes me think it’s speaking of an American problem… is there a specific story this is speaking of?

He lost me on this one. Is he saying black women need a man to depend on?

It’s been said a few times before, Kal (Kevin Kallaugher) is American. No idea what the cartoon is about.

This is about the successful black woman in America being unable to find a successful black eligible man to date and marry. It’s a real problem- or it’s a real perceived problem- in the African American affluent community.

I think Spencer gets the point. It’s one of the side effects of having more women than men in universities.

Let’s see….how did men get wives when they were no women at all in universities?

The issue HAS come up a number of times in the “culture” that as women have advanced, they’ve found a smaller choice in suitable spouses.

At the same time, just looking at the fact that women outnumber men in America, in ALL racial groups— the pond has gotten smaller for finding a good “catch”. Ahhh, but think about the opportunity guys! (well, if you put out the cigarette, get a college degree, put your beer down and turn off the football game; and get a job.)

^^ If he watches hockey, he doesn’t have to stop, I’ll watch it with him…

…but I won’t watch football!!! (unless a CFL team comes to Moncton)

comYcs; You sound like my brother (and that’s not a compliment). He called every woman, including his own sisters, skanks. Was the biggest gossip I know along with he biggest homohobe…then I found out he molested his own daughter.

Then I realized that no matter what I do, I’ll be a skank to him. He’s in jail now.

I know you’ll say I sound like a b!tch, here, but I’ve spent ages 18 to 24 wondering; “I’m in university, I’m young, I want fun, I believe I have a great future and an interesting career ahead of me but I don’t want kids now…must find Mr. Right”

    Last winter, I finally realized two things;

1 what is a mister right? and 2 Why do I need him?

Strangely enough, as long as I was in “must settle down” mode, there was not a man in sight. Now that I’ve stopped searching, they’re all over me.

Femalia that encourage menalia to do wickedly arent really viewed as human, it’s a demonic practice.

^and what is encouraging them to be evil? what is discouraging them?

Everyone has it’s own conscience. It’s up to them to use it to stay out of trouble. We’re not the moral guardians of mankind.

That sounds logically intune with Kal’s cartoon acelist.

^^ I believe the worst thing happening to black america right now is not an evil thing imposed on them by whites, it is their own image of themselves as portrayed in the medias; the gangsters, womanizers, drug dealers present all over the medias, to entertain rich, often white kids.

So honest black people feel like they have to reject everything black to be successful and yet seem honest.

You can agree or disagree with Obama, but I think his election was a major plus as it broke those clichés.

I don’t know how many of the responders to this cartoon is actually part of the black community, but being black this is not a new topic. There are very few black men (meaning those who are not gay, in jail, with baby mama drama, married, or dead) for well educated women to choose from. Compound on top of this all the rest who don’t have college education, or don’t have the same level of success in their careers.

sometimes it’s better to research before saying what you “think”. they are definitely NOT skanks - they’re fed up w/ pimps and gangstas who sit around drinking, watching tv sports, and spouting testosterone.

This is an Illustration for an article in the Economist. Besides his personal editorials KAL does header illustrations, the article link follows:

If you want to bash someone, the author of the Lexington column is the target. Although, if you read the article, I think you’ll find there are some interesting data and thoughts.
