Interesting….. John Ringo, the author, has a book out that features Maple Syrup, among other things - Live Free or Die is the title… Military SF, sort of, if it matters.

I’m reading John Ringo’s Live Free or Die now. The maple syrup is booze to one alien race. It’s a hilarious book, too.
