Participating is definitely worth celebration. Sport teaches both winning gracefully and losing with resilience. And many other life lessons, like persistence, planning, teamwork, and leadership. Whining about how only winners deserve a trophy is shortsighted and betrays an unattractive narrow-minded focus on the least important part of children’s sport.
