I don’t have a garden either. Or a wife to make me put in a garden.

Oh, and I agree with Earl on this one, if you haven’t guessed that already.

Our daughter decided when we moved to bring her grandmothers flowers she planted I think 50 years ago with us. Her dad liked that idea so we did. My husband he likes to do that type of weeding Earl. It has kept his moms memory alive. She lived to be 88 not in the best of health and totally crippled. I agree though flower beds as well as gardens are work but the labor brings beauty as well as bountiful harvest.

My grandma was always weeding in her flower beds & would come help weed in my family’s garden. She lived to be an active 92 year old using a cane her last year for balance. That’s why I have a garden - to keep active & have something to do that gets me off the couch (just in case I live so long ☺)!

Earl can say like Capt’n Eddie, “Whatevaahh!”

I’d love to do the work on the Flower and veggies gardens when I will get new home. :-)

I’m glad (or sorry, as the case may be) to say that my feelings ‘bout digging, planting, weeding or maintaining any type of garden can be summarized in one statement:

**You can lead a horticulture, but you cannot make her think.**

Joe-Allen Re: “They had a window AC unit. Mom put a 5 gallon bucket under the drip hole and she had plenty of “free” water for the flowers at the front of the house.”

That’s a good idea Joe-Allen! Thanks for sharing that gardening tip.

Earl - Just mistake a plant she wants for a weed, and you might get out of weeding. I didn’t do it on purpose, but my parents quickly learned that it wasn’t wise to have me do the weeding. (I still had to plant & harvest.)

Opal should be helping him! Gardens are a lot of work, but the reward is well worth it~~
