Perfect summary indeed of “conservative” thought carried to extreme in America today, on every subject. BTW: fiscal conservatism is a very sound policy. It is the refusal to accept any social benefit as “the enemy, or them” that separates them from true conservatives of the 1800’ up through most of the 1950’s.
When the “us” base becomes smaller, it actually increases their hatred for the “thems”.
That’s not how the police I know feel… However, if the “them” in this comic refers to that small percentage of violent criminals, I guess you could say so. But if that’s the definition of “them,” then EVERY law-abiding person is part of “us.” So, it’s not the police against the world. Thank God they are here to protect and serve.

When a police officer is threatened and he reacts appropriately, it’s us vs them? You need some education.
