How can you tell a knee-jerk conservative? A torture report about Republicans comes out and he changes it to Democrats, who have done no torture.

You guys are so naive. I laugh that you are finding the cops guilty until proven innocent. You are so blinded by your racial hatred that you can’t see that in the case of Brown, he attacked an officer that defended himself. The Grand Jury, not you, had all the evidence. They rendered a decision based on that evidence. You merely are rendering a decision fueled by your racial bias.As to the choke-out in NY, here’s something I have learned from having kids: If they are still making noise, they are okay. When he is saying, “I can’t breathe,” he still is breathing because you can’t speak if you can’t breathe. At the same time, if he had complied and not resisted arrest (which I’m guessing he did, by the fact that they had to get him in a figure-4), they wouldn’t have had to put a choke-hold on him in the first place. Most cops aren’t out to “get you.” If you do as they say, you frequently have them treat you like human beings. Sounds like you lot should watch this.

Sorry, but the all powerful Eric does not have the authority to do that. That is the reason that we used to have states separate from the federal government. We need to go back to a limited federal government, as the constitution envisioned.

Your assumption is flawed. The only time I’ll ever be surrounded by 5 men that I am certain are going to kill me is not going to be in a circumstance where those 5 men are cops. Why? Because I don’t break the law. Both of the instances that are being used as foils are all started because both individuals broke the law. Brown significantly moreso than Garner. But if you don’t break the law, you won’t be drawing attention on yourself. It’s as Chris Rock said. In the case of Michael Brown, he brought the shooting on himself. The concrete evidence (blood, photos, and other hard evidence, mind you) proves that Brown assaulted the officer and when he was shot it was a justified killing. He was a thug, and he was acting like a thug, and he was shot like a thug. If it were a private citizen defending themselves, it would be the same outcome: Self Defense. In the Garner case, it was a different situation. Based on what I know, he was choked by police, and while it is a tragedy that he died, it was not intentional nor was it malicious. I’m pretty certain the officer at the time didn’t know that Garner had asthma. And when you hear someone saying, “I can’t breathe,” that is an indication to someone who is trying to restrain that person, they still are technically breathing because they are TALKING. Had he gone limp immediately, instead of struggling, they likely would have stopped it where it was going. But, again, back track even further and you find that had he not been breaking the law, he wouldn’t have been accosted by the police in the first place. Or are you now advocating police should not enforce laws?

The purpose of the “choke hold” in restraint is to block the carotid arteries, blood to the brain stops flowing, and the person passes out, he or she has NOT had their breathing compromised.

There is rampant racism in the United States today, and in works all ways, across all groups.

I think the ’toon is more about the police being attacked than perpetrators being mistreated.

Just a thought; if kids (and their parents) are constantly watching “entertainment” on TV where drug dealers and criminals are the heroes, or the 24 hour torture is good Bauer brainwash, what impact does that have on their cultural acceptance level?

I know I’m not in danger because I obey the law. How hard is that for you to understand? Criminals are criminals because they break the law. Whether it be shaking down a convenience store, punching an officer in the face and trying to steal his sidearm, or repeatedly selling things illegally… they all involve breaking the law.People are more and more believing that the law doesn’t apply to them, and then they are caught, they cry fowl and “racism.” That’s ignorant and wrong-minded, and people like you are covering for that poor behavior. The worst law I break is speeding, but if I get pulled over for speeding I don’t cry about how the cops hate me. I do the Adult thing and accept that I was in the wrong and I pay the ticket. I don’t make excuses about how it wasn’t my fault for (insert crap here).@ Harley: I was using the word “victim” because it’s what the liberals on these boards understand instead of “perpetrator.”
