“we can also take a stand against war.”.Reminded me of a post from one of our German commentators when this whole VA fiasco surfaced. He said basically they were running out of wounded vets there and it broke my heart because we keep making new wounded vets..Great post.
Anyone remember that the troops were in need of better quality and more wearable armor plus better weapons?
I suppose you don’t recall Rumsfeld basically telling those troops to suck it up? Or that Republicans very recently actively blocked expanded funding for veterans’ healthcare? Why, if you continue to claim that you’re “independent,” do you cherry-pick your facts (or even give false ones) to prop up Republican narratives?
Well, now, I’m getting signals that the Liberals here want to fund the military more!
Not me. But you were implying that “liberals” were all for defunding vets’ services, when that’s really been a Republican thing all along. How about you? Do you want to fund the military more? Less? Keep it the same? How would you prioritize that funding? Big spending on fancy new airplanes and missiles? Better pay for soldiers?
By the way, there are plenty of folks who are liberal on domestic issues and quite hawkish on foreign policy. Yes, there are indeed many liberals who are not anti-war at all. That’s not a contradiction in their values, that is their values. It just happens that I disagree with them quite strenuously on that front. What led you to think all liberals are anti-war in the first place? And how about you? Are you pro-war?
You’ve confused me with the Democrats, who base things on feelings.
On what do you base this assertion? And are you implying that people should base “things” (fairly nonspecific there) on a Vulcan-like view of the world, and just keep feelings out of it? Do you think this is possible? If so, how?
And to put the original question another way, what are your thoughts on war and on our veterans?
Well, you know, I figure since you like to ask so many questions yourself, it might make you feel nice (think nice?) to have someone ask you some. But why so reluctant to answer anything?
Take some of that hidden Black Budget and use it for the Veteran’s instead.
That, and maybe divert some money from, say, the ridiculously expensive F-35. It’ll be costing us $1.5 trillion over the program’s lifetime.
Cons usually portray themselves as the warm feeling ones unless they want to jump the rhetorical fence to use it as a liability against their enemies
Yep. Both hypocritical and inhumane. But when the GOP leadership is full of folks who would very likely score rather high on a psychopath test, I suppose it’s not that surprising.
Yup, it’s all about dialogue. Or is that something you object to as well? Keeping in mind, of course, that your first three posts today all contained questions. Are those okay because they’re your questions?

I like a Gershwin tune.
That’s nice. How about Cole Porter? Gilbert and Sullivan? Metallica?
Oh, and by the by, what are your feelings on war, and on our veterans?

It’s astounding that a few of you never seem to grasp that this forum is called “Comments,” not “answers.”
So are you asserting that questions are comments? Because you do tend to ask a lot of them.

Sheesh – another question.
