Well, you do have Keith Ablow on the same network ranting about how Obama’s “affinities” are with Africans and not the US. (The link includes video of his statements, in case you need hard proof.) Ablow says, and I quote, “his [Obama’s] affiliations are with them. Not us. That’s what people seem unwilling to accept. He’s their leader … we don’t have a president.” The crazy only increased from there. And this is a guy who regularly gets to sit in front of the Fox News cameras. See, this is why we say that Fox News and a whole lot of right-wingers are unreconstructed racists. They seem go out of their way to prove it.

What Lalo is getting at is that the right wing – Fox specifically a regularly blame Obama for any number of ludicrous things. This started virtually the day he took office when a commentator there accused him of starting the financial crisis (not to mention being an illegal alien).

And unfortunately, there are posters on GoComics who already call him “Obola”.Too bad his name lends itself to so many stupid epithets.

@cdward is correct; there are plenty of folks on the right wing calling Obama Obola, so Lalo is unfortunately already pretty close to the truth.

You may want to dismiss it, but a main difference between what Alcaraz does and what those Fox commentators do is to engage in what the vast majority of folks recognize as humor. The comic strip format sort of lends itself to that interpretation. Those folks on Fox News? They’re totally serious about what they say and pass it off as straight fact.

As far as objecting to “screaming,” does this mean you won’t be characterizing folks on here as screaming, or whining, or any of those other words you’ve used to characterize what posters (or cartoonists) do? I mean, when I post on here, I’m pretty much just typing.

As far as sexism, it seems we share common cause on that. Maybe we should push Lalo to address unequal pay for women and the legislation that would help mitigate it?

He is a disease on America. Not because he is black, but because he is an anti- American blithering idiot that has perpetrated a complete hoax on us.

LALO USED THE WORD ‘SCREAMING’ – I’M COMMENTING ON THAT.

And I’m commenting on your use of the same word, as well as words like “whining,” in many of your past posts. If you think it’s a problem, why contribute to it?

“I mean, when I post on here, I’m pretty much just typing.”THAT ONLY MEANS YOU HAVE BEEN CONDESCENDING, SARCASTIC, AND NAME-CALLING IN A QUIET VOICE.

Look, you’re the one who asked whether Ingraham was literally screaming. And I’m saying that I, and probably Alcaraz, and maybe even you, literally aren’t even vocalizing when we write these posts or make those comic strips. Which leaves me to wonder how you get a pass but Lalo doesn’t. If you think it’s condescending to try and apply logic to a situation, well, you and I have different definitions of “condescending.”

“Maybe we should push Lalo to address unequal pay for women and the legislation that would help mitigate it?”LALO’S ATTITUDE TOWARDS WOMEN (IN PARTICULAR, LATINA WOMEN) CAN’T BE SOLVED BY LEGISLATING – THAT IS A REPUBLICAN TACTIC.

I’m not saying we can legislate anyone’s attitude. What I am saying is that we both seem to agree that sexism is a bad thing. So how might push for a lessening of it? The legislation that would help to rectify pay disparities isn’t about attitudes, but it is about structures. So why not push for that? Same as folks have pushed for the Civil Rights Act, for the abolition of slavery, for the legalization of same-sex marriage, for women’s right to vote, etc.?

Wow, you really don’t get it, do you? Lalo was just as accurate about the “screaming” as you would probably say you’ve been about “whining” and, yes, “screaming” on other days.

" And I’m saying that I, and probably Alcaraz, and maybe even you, literally aren’t even vocalizing when we write these posts or make those comic strips."SO LALO DOESN’T REALLY MEAN ANYTHING HE WRITES ABOUT?

No, I’m saying that your use of “screaming,” “whining,” and the rest are no more accurate than Lalo’s use of them. Which isn’t to say they aren’t useful. But based on your own beef, I’d say that you don’t mean anything you write about. Because you don’t literally think folks are sitting there, shouting or making whiny noises at their screens while they type or draw, do you? And if you do think this, what evidence do you have for it?

Hey, as far as past posts, sure, I’ll give you that I took a condescending tone. Mostly in response to your own brand of condescending tone. But though you may not have noticed, I haven’t been doing that here. Again, it’s my own little experiment, and I’m interested to see where it leads us.

In terms of sexism, I’m not saying you shouldn’t call Lalo out on that. In fact, when you have I’ve agreed with you. (It is interesting, though, that you don’t also call out some of your fellow posters on their blatant racism.) What I’m saying is this is an issue we agree on, no? So I’m interested in further exploring how far that agreement goes. Nothing else to it by that.

Well, if after all the explaining you have done, whose fault is that – the student’s or the teacher’s?

If we took a poll, my guess is that the fault would be placed squarely at the feet of the “student” on this one. And before you get indignant, remember that you’re the one that asked the question.

Oh, I didn’t think you’d be surprised, but you asked, and I answered. And yes, my posts dealt with arguments. You made arguments, and I addressed them. Just as I’m doing now. Experiment continues. Be well!
