The citizens of the US were tired of war and just wanted to get out of the middle east altogether. Then ISIS slit the throats of two journalists and promised to send their radicalized US and European citizens to bring the war home to us.And Americans took notice. A journalist pointed out that usually Presidents need to pull citizens into these matters, but in this case, the majority of Americans were ahead of Mr. Obama on wanting us to use deadly force to bring ISIS to a standstill. There are reports that a number of ISIS fighters have requested permission to return to their home nations as long as they don’t go to jail. It will be interesting to see what happens. On another note, Al Qayadah has announced it will begin operations in India, Pakistan’s enemy. I’ve not heard any speculation, but it seems to me that AQ is seeking to cement their relationship with Pakistani hardliners by offering to do damage to their enemy, India.AQ’s ten thousand Muslims against India’s 500 million citizens. Can’t see this going very well.Respectfully,C.

You do realize that we are still fighting in Yemen and Somalia? Our drone strikes in Yemen have pinned down AQAP but they are far from defeated. And while we killed a terrorist leader in Somalia, his followers have already publically vowed to continue to follow AQ.I was surprised that Obama and now his mouthpieces even brang up those two countries.Or was your entire post sarcasm? My sarcasm detector isn’t working well right now, so I apologize if you were being sarcastic.

So do I have this right? A central feature of the strategy is to have Muslim boots on the ground fighting other Muslims in a predominantly Islamic region supported by American air power. But the vast majority of Muslims resent Americans occupying their country who they see as having intent to extend American business interests and control oil resources, despite what their official government position might be. So I foresee those boots on the ground being Hush Puppies and them being a further conduit of armaments to the bad guys. Be prepared for a long, expensive, and ineffective air campaign so long as FOX News and partisan cowboy politics sets the agenda at home.

Just note, please: cutting the size of the Army and Marine Corps "troops on the ground’, and relying on “air power” and technology improvements, was RUMSFELD AND CHENEY, both, when they were Secretaries of Defense, and Cheney later as V.P. pursued the same thing! Of course, substituting “contractors” for all those former military jobs, in addition to fighters (mercenaries) was also Cheney and Rummy!!

Obama has done more against terrorists than any president in history. Lisa, you need to look at facts, not Fox News talking points.
