A widely used definition of a church is a building used for public worship. I understand what you’re saying, Joe, but that’s really splitting hairs. (I’m predicting you’ll now quote your dictionary from the 1800’s that shows that your definition is more accurate.)

At least it wasn’t the organ at the Mormon Tabernacle at Temple Square in Salt Lake City. Beautiful site… if you ignore the anti-Mormon street preachers. The organ is HUGE! Two hundred and six rows of pipes (making it 11,623 pipes)!

Actually, you need to PAY ATTENTION to the anit-Mormon preachers, but that’s my prejudice the other way, comix… Joe is very right. The first church met in houses since the Temple was verbotten. All the earliest ones started by Paul were separate from the Jewish enclaves and Sabbath meeting places. Though Paul tried to get them in there. Church is where two or more are gathered in His name, same as marriage. Boy, we all better think a while on that one, huh?
