There was a similar technique employed when I played baseball in my youth. Whenever a pop-up occurred and you were chasing it down along the sidelines, opposing players would yell “bicycle!”. That sometimes was enough to break your concentration. There were always plenty of bicycles around so before the game started you learned to try to mentally map their locations

Youth Baseball? “Hey, batter, batter, batter! Swing batter!” That was one that NEVER worked.
