Wait until they find that they can make the big CD “skip” by jiggling te player just a bit!

The size of that black one, with relative small content, is way the later ones are “CD’s”. Ours were definitely not “compact”.

LP records are making a comeback. We have hundreds of albums, and still enjoy listening to them occasionally. Although not everyone agrees, I believe they have better sound than the artificial “digital” sound on CDs and other media in common use today…

“And I have them in three speeds too!”

Two years ago I lost a friend who reported that he had records, cassettes, 8 Tracks and wax rolls. I hope they were saved for posterity.

I wish I would have saved all my old records. They were such a pain to haul around when we moved. And you have to get up every time the side you’re listening to is finished…

When I was a tour guide on a double decker bus, in New York City, we’d pass a record store. If we had a red light, I would point out the store. "For those of you who are under forty. This is a record store. They have four different speeds. There is 78 rpm. in which the record spins very fast. Next, we have the 45’s. These are CDs with thyroid problems. Then we have the 33 lp’s aka long playing records. We didn’t have to turn them over as frequently as the others. So, we called them, “Make Out Records.” Ask your parents what that means. And last but not least, the 16s. They spin realllllly sloooow. Of course, the people who were of a certain age, laughed about 33s. This is how I explained records in the mid 2000’s".

I love my old records, and we have a shop here on the south side of Chicago called Beverly Records, who has about 10,000 records from cheap to WOW. Also try Half Price Books, picked up a Chistmas record for $0.50.
