Interesting that the “militia” that came a-runnin’ to the aid of Cliven Bundy had a member who, when interviewed, said that they would use women as human shields so that when the “rogue FBI agents” started firing, we would all see that they were willing to shoot innocent women.
I’m sorry I do not have a citation. That particular part of the interview was broadcast on a wide variety of news channels. And on Jon Stewart, who showed the CNN version. This was the day before the famous “Let me tell you something else about the negroes…” Bundy quote.
I do not support Hamas. I feel that it is horrid, regardless of its scale. I just made the point that Hamas is not alone in viewing human shields as an acceptable strategy to gain sympathy.
Show the damage in Israel. Oh, wait a couple small hits on buildings, with 99.9% of the damage in open fields (thanks to Iron Dome in large part, but also the difference in weapons, Hamas having only relative “toys”) doesn’t make the Israeli charges fly very well. Gaza IS 99% civilian buildings and residential, jammed into a very small space. Er, excuse me, WAS civilian buildings before they were blown up.
Tunnels built to bring food and supplies and yes, a very few weapons, relatively, into Gaza after years of blockades on land and sea, are NOT the story Israel tells. And yes, i’m very personally aware of the tunnels in Viet Nam, and they were NOT anywhere near the same thing. Among other things, those tunnels a very skinny American, like, well, ME, could barely squeeze through, they were NOT what folks see in the movies. Yes, those were infiltration, or “combat” tunnels. That is NOT the primary use of what goes into Gaza.
I should be more correct. I do not support Hamas, but I am not sure there is a “right side” and a “wrong side”. A lot of it depends on who’s telling the story, and American press tends to be nicer to Israel than to Hamas. I think it’s safe to say we don’t really know each side of the story precisely.
I do know one thing: if neither side was armed with more than rocks and name-calling, far fewer people would be casualties. But I’m a pacifist. I am convinced that there are better ways to prove a point than to point a weapon. But what do I know? I’m obviously out of step with most of the human race, it appears…..
^The real problem stems from the U.N. not using, and enforcing, the PEEL Commission recommendations and map, for a shared HOMELAND in the former British Protectorate in 1948.

Palestine will have it’s own Iron Dome when it’s elected leader care more about them, than killing Israelis.
