It was reported in major newspapers this morning that the Repub’s in the Senate killed a bill from Obama to close the loopholes, which more American corporations are using in their “inversions”: buying interest in a foreign company, like Ireland, and declaring your profits there to avoid taxes. Current U.S. law actually provides financial incentives for doing so! And Obama has asked (again) to reduce the corporate tax rate (35%) which is the highest among the major economies, to keep companies here, and attract others BACK to the U.S.!
The Repub’s actually complained that Obama is responsible for that.! It is the province of CONGRESS to set that rate!! But, as the Repub’s declared six years ago, they will oppose every initiative by this president until they regain power. The welfare of the rest of us be damned.
