Ronald Reagan would be so proud, this was the type of government he always preached about.

No taxes, just spend and it will trickle down (of course a trickle is very slow.)

That trickle is what made the numbers good for Clinton. Reagan set the repair in motion from Carter’s mess and Slickwillie got the credit, something the demagogs are very good at.

    Its all GW Bush’s fault!

Were he not spending as a Democrat, 0bama would not have been elected …

Of course, the ‘change we can believe in’ was not exactly in the direction that the electorate believes in … November is coming!

A drunken sailor in a whore house probably had more to show for it then Reagan (or America) did.

Hey, pointless wars on the other side of the world are expensive (yet it’s just one of the many things that are)

Giving money to the rich expecting it will trickle down no the poor is just like giving twenty bucks directly to a bum and expecting he’ll buy food instead of booze or cocaine.

Just a little light reading; http://www.lewrockwell.com/margolis/margolis179.html

Just a piece of reporting that might be of interest to some; http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/02192010/watch.html

We are at war with ourselves; the corporate structure has divided us and we are about to be conquered:

Ike understood the following; II. WAGING WAR Sun Tzu said: In the operations of war, where there are in the field a thousand swift chariots, as many heavy chariots, and a hundred thousand mail-clad soldiers, with provisions enough to carry them a thousand li, the expenditure at home and at the front, including entertainment of guests, small items such as glue and paint, and sums spent on chariots and armor, will reach the total of a thousand ounces of silver per day. Such is the cost of raising an army of 100,000 men.

When you engage in actual fighting, if victory is long in coming, then men’s weapons will grow dull and their ardor will be damped.

If you lay siege to a town, you will exhaust your strength.

Again, if the campaign is protracted, the resources of the State will not be equal to the strain.

Now, when your weapons are dulled, your ardor damped, your strength exhausted and your treasure spent, other chieftains will spring up to take advantage of your extremity. Then no man, however wise, will be able to avert the consequences that must ensue.

Thus, though we have heard of stupid haste in war, cleverness has never been seen associated with long delays.

There is no instance of a country having benefited from prolonged warfare.

It is only one who is thoroughly acquainted with the evils of war that can thoroughly understand the profitable way of carrying it on.

The skillful soldier does not raise a second levy, neither are his supply-wagons loaded more than twice. Bring war material with you from home, but forage on the enemy. Thus the army will have food enough for its needs.

Poverty of the State exchequer causes an army to be maintained by contributions from a distance. Contributing to maintain an army at a distance causes the people to be impoverished.

fennec – of course we’re on the way out, in the long term. But how long is the term, and what comes next?

Little birdie, little birdie, Come sing me your song. I’ve a short time for to be here, And a long time to be gone.

I would say that we’ve been a mixed blessing as a species, but who’s to judge? Meanwhile, momentary pain is still pain, even if it won’t matter to anyone in a hundred years. It’s still wrong to hurt other people right now even if the sun is going to burn out in a billion years.

If there’s meaning in life, it’s because we create the meaning. I can’t prove it, but sometimes I kind of think that we can make that meaning by becoming somehow more conscious. Every scientific discovery, every new work of art, every worthwhile social action adds something of value. Call me sentimental.

2009 saw a deficit of 1.75 trillion USD (approximately). 2008 saw a deficit of 1.45 trillion USD (approximately) 2007 saw a deficit of 550 billion USD (approximately)

It’s almost as if something occurred in 2008 to impact the deficit so much… like something that caused an expansion of federal spending, or a contraction of tax income… Three guesses as to what, first two don’t count.

You know, I really hope Obama finds the spine to say “Sorry guys, we are having a problem with the deficits, we can’t afford the tax cuts, President Bush’s or mine, and we are stopping them tomorrow.. ” Watch how quickly all those deficit hawks turn chicken.
