When illegals are getting PICKED UP, the fence has failed (stupid idea), but the Border Patrol, strapped for personnel and support, IS doing their job pretty effectively. BTW, it was under “conservative” leadership that a big push was made to allow more Mexican drivers to bring their rigs further into the U.S. without restriction to deliver goods. (From China? and drugs from India (black market prescription pharmaceuticals), and South America.)
On the other hand, you’re taking the fact that the children were detained to mean that the border isn’t porous. It’s a two way street. The children could have been caught because they can’t run as fast as adults, aren’t experienced enough to avoid detection, etc. Really, all I’m saying is that there isn’t enough information either way. I would be interested to see numbers about homeless rates among children in some of the major southwestern cities over the last few months and for the next few months. That assumes there are such numbers and that they have some accuracy to them.

Let’s save some money, and dismantle the Department of Homeland Security.

Couldn’t that also mean that there’s actually a number of children who got through that we don’t know anything about though?
