All too true, but Americans don’t care, all they want is out.
We never should have gone in, it will implode soom after we leave, and every year the Iraqi’s will have a national holiday on George Bush’s birthday to celebrate their liberation. I know this because Fox and Cheney told me.
I believe that the so-called “Pottery Barn” principle was stated by Colin Powell, supposedly in conversation with President Bush. He was warning Bush that he would have to live with the consequences of invading Iraq. But Bush had a better plan – pass the consequences on to the next president. “If I break it, he has to pay for it.”
Surely it would be good to be out of Iraq. Is there a responsible way to disengage? Obama is trying. I don’t know if his plan is the right one, but I don’t think II have heard a better idea. We can’t stay forever, and those who want to leave instantly have to be willing to see the consequences. What a bad idea it was to invade. One of the worst ideas in recent times.

Is it any wonder the “right” always bombs and invades the wrong country and can’t keep anything straight? They can’t spell!

DrC, I couldn’t agree more. This will dog us for years, either way.
Could we elect Dick Cheney King of Iraq? That would solve two problems at once. But it wouldn’t be fair to the Iraqis – they’ve suffered enough.

“Broke it, bought it”, is used to punish, not encouragement to destroy and steal.
