The Blackhawks was named after and honors the courageous Indian chief Black Hawk. The Redskins is a derogatory term for native Americans.
You’d have to wonder why when they moved the team to Washington they didn’t have the foresight to call them something less offensive such as the “Washington Wingnuts.”
