A bit more plainly stated than Tayo’s version.
(I’ll admit to seeing it already sometime ago (17th/01) as I subscribe to the ZA Mail & Guardian online where Zapiro is resident cartoonist and I have a FB feed)
We also have forgotten Afghanistan in 2005, when an earthquake did tremendous damage, and the U.S. military shifted gears for a great effort in relief (especially with our Chinooks). One thing “civilians” overlook, or never hear, is that these relief efforts are where our folks in the military get their greatest pride of achievement. (speaking from experience) It is in saving, not taking, lives that even our military realize the way to “win”.
