From the tallest shining towers, to the dankest, darkest, ugly hole in the ground, while it does represent the impact on our country of the Bush administration, it is well, perhaps the ugliest, in many ways, “memorial” ever designed. But, as the ‘toon notes, HEY! It’s going to bring in the bucks! That “fountain” does represent all the trillions of dollars, and lives, flushed down the drain as a result of the Rumsfeld, Cheney, Bush and company senseless wars against the wrong people, and total failure to accomplish the one simple mission of getting the actual guy behind it.
Interesting cartoon. Almost too cynical. But who deals with the actual impetus behind these horrible events? Sure Bush was in power, but Clinton was the one who sent in drones. The Dems like drones, the GOP invasions. The congressional-military-indistrial complex rattles on.
The circus, a social form for which Americans seem to have a special talent, began almost immediately and was at full speed within a few days. This memorial is just the latest phase. It’s clearly directed at sucker tourists rather than New Yorkers, one more thing to check off the list.
The ‘Ground Zero Mosque’ seems to have been much ado about nothing, a temporary excitement for racists and bigots. Part of the circus, really. There has been a mosque near the site of the World Trade Center from long before 9/11, just as there are churches, synagogues, and sites for a variety of other religious practices. People who find this fact offensive need to get the First Amendment changed.
The lies Rad-ish listed were what brought about the “support statements” by those accused of treason if they tried to bring out the truth.
jrmerm: the one and only overriding reason to invade Iraq was to fulfill the long-term Bush folk’s plan to invade, kill Saddam, and get even for the Bush personal grudge for the “contract” supposedly put out on Papa Bush, by Saddam, the guy HE betrayed, by telling him to go ahead and invade Kuwait, then dropping bombs to start a two-decade long war on Iraq.

Thank Dog someone is savage enough to deal adequately with this obscene, poisonous circus.

Tasteless and disrespectful, Mr. Rall. Just like the subject matter itself. Well done.
