To all: Agreed. It must have made Mr. Kerry feel pretty stupid to tell Russia that the days of taking over countries just because you can are over, when we did just that a couple of years ago.
We can only hope that Crimea becomes the financial and personnel drain to Russia that Afghanistan and Iraq became for us.
And just to have something more to chew on: I was discussing this with one of my patients a while back, who is an active-duty Marine. He tells me that the US mission in the middle east is to ensure that you protect your fellow service personnel. There is no other goal. So we are sending our young troops to the other side of the world with no other stated purpose than to stay alive and try to keep their colleagues alive. Hey, they could do that over here more easily and far cheaper, with less risk. What’s the point? Can’t we bring everyone home now?
