LLeRay, you’re right, in the half-dozen books I’ve read, Rice was not very effective. She said her goal was to make sure Bush heard all viewpoints, but that didn’t really happen. When Powell dissented in meetings, she shut him up and mocked him. It was painful just reading it. She was a loyalist and a cheerleader, and when she went to State, she became even less effective in the inner circle. I’m sure there will be more books and I’ll read some of them because she was a fascinating failure.
