Just think of all the bridges to nowhere, roads to nowhere and other pork projects. Our grandchildren’s grandchildren will be paying for monuments to our stupidity named for idiots of Congress.
This strip illustrates (literally!) why “job creation” all by itself is a useless effort in restoring a sound economy. Such make-work jobs do not increase productivity and just serve as camoflaged welfare programs. Only the market, not government functionaries, can properly decide what is productive and what is not. We’ll have to wait and see how long it takes the Obama administration to learn that, if ever. The longer it takes, the worse things will get.
Uphill battle… Yes, I think this was near the high point of the ancient Egyptian empire. (Watched show on Discover, think it was called “Scandals of the Ancient World”, or something close to that.) They said that their empire basically collapsed due to greed and corruption (I think beliefs didn’t help). Sound familiar?

Witty, as F & E virtually always are. Now if we could only get them elected to Congress.
