Years ago my job involved an occasional trip to East Chicago, Indiana, right next to Gary, Indiana. For my safety, I stayed in a motel several miles to the South.

I dunno. I lived a few miles from Gary—it wasn’t so bad. You just had to know how to navigate cities safely.
