Perhaps it’s not a shortage of propane, Mr. S. Just a shortage of people unwilling to sell it without making as much money as they possibly can. I’ve read commentators on GC say that’s just supply and demand capitalism and the gov’t should stay out of the way of people trying to make a living.I don’t know. I don’t use propane and I don’t know anyone who sells it.However, up until Hurricane Isabel hit Virginia, every time a tropical depression did damage, generator prices went up in price by 500%. That’s against the law now, but enforcement is lax.The prevailing attitude seems to be as long as I’m not effected by a lack of heat, fresh water, a home caught in a chemical spill/fire/flood, then there is no problem and the people who are effected are just whiners. That is not my attitude, but I read it a lot.Michael, thanks again for the link. It gives context to the content.Respectfully,C.

Thank the current administration’s short-sighted and idiotic energy policies that focus on what the Greentards want even though it is expensive and unworkable.

By the logic given above, the people distributing water in W. Va. have a right to charge whatever they want per bottle and the people of W. Va. are at fault for failing to realize that something could happen to their water supply. Those who feel that way deserve to have something bad that happens to them, something for which they cannot prepare and of which they had no idea a threat existed. it is the only way that such narrow minds and hard hearts will be able to appreciate the hardships being faced by our neighbors.I have an electric generator and I bought 2 cords of firewood based on what the Farmer’s Almanac wrote about this winter. Also, NOAA, the organization the entire country trusts when plotting the path and strength of hurricanes said the the polar vortex events we are experiencing is because the north pole is warmer than usual. The vortex usually spins and stays spinning at the pole, but as it spins over time, it breaks of bands of cold that have caused snow to fall in southern Louisiana and other unlikely places. If Alaska was as cold as it was supposed to be, the rest of the nation would not be experiencing the weather events we’ve seen so far this winter. I keep reading that the data gathered by so many reputable scientists is false and/or faulty. A very good friend of mine says it’s an effort to redistribute income among third world nations and make Al Gore rich. Yet hardly a month goes by where I don’t hear a reporter talking about a weather event somewhere on the planet that is the worst that has occurred since records were begun being kept. The data against Clmate Change comes from fewer sources and is too often provided by people financed by companies who have a vested interest in not changing their behaviors that are allegedly contributing to climate change. It’s very much like when a person goes to the doctor and says their medication is causing side effects and the doctor tells the pharmaceutical company who simply says, your patient is stupid. Our medicine doesn’t cause side effects.Sometimes, patients have to die before the pharmaceutical company pulls the drug, usually while admitting that they did nothing wrong. There is something wrong with our climate and with the way we regulate companies that effect the air and water. It is happening all over the planet.Like those who laughed at Noah, the deniers will realize they are wrong when its too late.Respectfully,C.

But, Genome, that isn’t due to the Obama administration. 90% + of new wells have been drilled on private land in the last 5 years. The permitting process for federal land is taking about three times as long as with previous administrations going back decades. Off shore permits have been non-existant.The Dept of the Interior has put many areas with resources off limits and has foot drug to the extreme on others. The Obama administration is anti-resource extraction at an extreme.

Propane, btw, is NOT “natural gas”, but a product removed from “natural gas” as well as from cracking towers making gasoline. Price is set by “supply and demand”, folks need the product to be supplied, and the “energy companies” will get whatever price they “demand”.

Quotation marks can also be used to set off an epithet, “supply and demand” (a nickname for being ripped off) or like “energy companies”(would you prefer monopolist private cartels?), or to distinguish for accuracy, as “natural gas”, which propane isn’t, actually.
