Before this predictably takes off in partisan directions allow me to point out that in his latest interview for The New Yorker, President Selfie says his detractors AND his supporters are both racists. Pretty much covers anybody reading this cartoon imho.
Starting off with “Kenyan” isn’t racist? The simple fact is that neither current “conservatives”, or “old school” Democrats are immune to racist sentiments. Nice to know there is nothing racist about our wars on Afghanistan, Iraq, and aiming at Iran… sectarianism is just another form of racism when you look at the way it’s linked in our media, and hypemasters texts.
CDK: a good friend in ’65 was from Kenya, in fact his father was Minister of Commerce at the time, he went on to become a physician instead of a physicist.
Another friend from South Africa, a dentist, is very Caucasian,, and now an American citizen, so does that make him “African American”??
The fact is, labels are often idiotic, and suck for accuracy!
“There’s no doubt that there’s some folks who just really dislike me because they don’t like the idea of a black President,” Obama said. “Now, the flip side of it is there are some black folks and maybe some white folks who really like me and give me the benefit of the doubt precisely because I’m a black President.”
If this is what the hoopla is about…I gotta admit I can’t fault him for saying it. He says SOME folks who just really dislike me because he’s black. And there are probably some. And he acknowledges the reverse: that SOME people let him skate because he’s black. And he’s right. There are some who fall into one of those two camps. Some examples of both can be seen on this board. I see more of it from his supporters here than I do his detractors, but they’re both out there.
It simply comes down to this: His approval rating should be based on his work. His work has been pretty bad so he has a low approval rating.
Remember, this is a President who enjoyed approval ratings close to 70% early in his PresidencyI think it’s safe to assume that racial animus was an important factor for a big chunk of the 30% who didn’t approve. It’s also fair to point out that Obama got more support from blacks because of his racial background.

I found the toon inane and then read the first post which goes far further in that direction.

The president does not use the race card. Mike Lester does, and it’s disgusting.

This is the comment I found:

Stop. I’m blushing.
