Radish,Back in the 90’s, I had a kid who worked for me who, at 17, had been ticketed numerous times for speeding and racing, sometimes being clocked at over 120mph. His parents had enough money to pay to keep the points off of his license, so he never had to face any consequences for his behavior. At 19, he and three of his friends were killed when he lost control at 90mph on a state route and the car rolled. Four kids who would still be alive If he had been subject to punishment earlier and lost his license.
“Too rich to Jail” has been around for a long time. There are many here who talk about how Ted Kennedy’s “affluenza” enabled him to get away with ‘murder’. I’m curious how they will react to this story. If one of the four pedestrians killed in Radish’s story had been of an equally affluent family, one suspects this story would have had another outcome. What was the race/income of the victims? I suppose there is no way for prosecutors to appeal this sentence? Was the judge elected to his position or appointed? In a state where a kid goes to prison for carrying a marijuana cigarette, you can apparently kill four people and get away with it? I hope every prisoner doing time for dui appeals their convictions based on this decision. It will cost the state a fortune and bring some necessary attention. In the meantime, the friends and family of four innocent people celebrate Christmas under a cloud of injustice.Sadly,C.

Is this anything like George W. Bush’ conviction for DUI, which was covered up?

At least Al went to ‘Nam, even if as a “journalist”, he didn’t run to Alabama and desert.
