I STILL wish someone could explain how the requirement of a photo I.D. is a way to suppress votes.

Btw….In order to be a productive member of society, people MUST have an ID.But I guess lots of unproductive, government dependent people equals more votes for the Dems so they don’t care.

“an before you cry gerrymandering take a look at Virginia’s last election. And was that not a Black Panther guy standing out in front of a polling place?”

First off, even with gerrymandering, the Republican candidates were so preposterous that they lost (but not by nearly as much as they should have). Gerrymandering does not guarantee election results; it merely makes it more likely for the party in control to stay in control. However, it does point out that you have to have some kind of value as a candidate to be able to win.

Keep up the good work regarding the Black Panthers. Oh, and the Weathermen at my polling precinct told me they’d bomb the school if I didn’t vote Democratic. But the Klansman standing next to him told me he’d kill my family if I didn’t vote Republican. It’s a wonder anyone in Virginia voted at all.

“. On one hand liberals like you say it is a right and everyone should vote. But I say it is not a right and only those who have skin in the game and a dog in the fight should vote.”

I’m cool. I’m white, male, and I own land. I can still vote. Is that what you are advocating?

“Liberals say why should they not vote they are here. I say a person should have a bare min at least to the level buying beer to vote.”

In answer to your first statement, I say that if you can be affected by the outcome of the vote (and you are a citizen) you should vote. Not doing so is abdicating your responsibility as a citizen. As to your second statement….I don’t know what you mean. Are you saying that if you’re not of legal age to buy beer, you shouldn’t be able to vote? If so, let me remind you of a dark portion of our history called the Viet Nam war: at that time, it was fine to draft every able-bodied 18-year-old to fight a war they couldn’t legally vote against even if a vote were held. If you’re old enough to carry a gun to protect the US, you’re old enough to vote. Just my (and others’) opinion. You are more than welcome to feel differently. Ain’t America grand?

“But I guess I value my vote more then you do.”

I will again request that you do not make assumptions about other people and their viewpoints. I have had many reasons to accuse you of who I think you may be, but I know enough to know what I don’t know. I recommend you consider the same.

“Just pointing out that one little slice is blue while the state is red. If the proper blame for the shut down was reported by the lame stream I think the whole would have been red. but the fact that a small little slice turned the whole into blue.”

Not altogether true. The blue areas are large population centers. Most of the red areas are underpopulated (relatively speaking) rural areas. I know. I’ve lived in several of these areas. Northern Virginia, Albemarle County, Richmond, and Tidewater are mostly populated with educated people with white-collar jobs. Those areas voted Democratic, including Tidewater, which is home to one of the largest naval installations in the world. The rest of the state is hard-right Republican. Make of that what you will.

However, I am giving the people of Virginia credit for being able to decide who caused the shutdown. (Regardless of media outlet, though, you have to agree that there was far more glee about causing it from Michelle Bachmann and the Tea Party Republicans than from the Democrats.)

You also believe that spending differences between the parties (which you exaggerate; it was nowhere close to 15:1) will change people’s votes. So, it seems you are saying that if the media had told people differently, and if there had been more money spent by Republicans, the outcome would be different. You certainly have a low opinion about your fellow voters. Are YOU willing to change your vote, depending on how much money the candidate spends? Are YOU willing to believe the first story you find in the media? Your posts suggest you do a lot of research, if for no other reason than to find someone who believes the truth as you understand it.

Maybe your assumptions are true, but I find it too disheartening to believe that people will vote based on how much money the candidate spends. I prefer not to accept it, but that may be my failing.

I voted last Tuesday with nothing more than my voter id card, though Cooch and company tried to change that.

oh please, jim crow? really? an before you cry gerrymandering take a look at Virginia’s last electionGerrymandering doesn’t work for a statewide vote, because you can’t segment the minorities into districts. That’s why Democrats control the Senate, but the GOP controls the House, despite getting fewer votes._ And was that not a Black Panther guy standing out in front of a polling place?_That was my Halloween costume, Harley. I’m surprised you didn’t you recognize me. Oh… wait. You’re still talking about the 2008 incident where no voters were unable to vote.Or how about there is no right to vote in a federal election. “voter id laws” that are racist? really? You value your vote that much?Ummm… yes. I believe everyone who is eligible, should be able to vote, don’t you?

But ID is required to get obamacareExplain how you show Photo ID to a website. You have to verify your identity, but not with a Photo ID. Kind of like voting…

On one hand liberals like you say it is a right and everyone should vote. But I say it is not a right and only those who have skin in the game and a dog in the fight should vote.Well… as long as we can count those who don’t have the right color of skin in the game as 3/5th of a person… Right, Harley?Seriously, this is over the top. Don’t any of you conservatives want to talk to this guy?
