My very tasty Franz donuts have ZERO GRAMS of trans fat, and many “food folks” have long done without, just like not using corn syrup. While I don’t like “bans”, letting people know what is in their food IS the responsibility of the FDA, and that should also apply to GM foods made with crops that pose many dangers to the environment, not just our gut.
Republicans (like this cartoonist, presumably, since he’s using the Fox News/Rand Paul lie about doughnuts) think that the government should not keep poisons out of food — one of many reasons their popularity is the lowest ever measured for any political entity.
