Another crazy, well-armed. Nothing to see here. Will happen again, and again, and again, but at least the Second Amendment is “protected”.

Once again, if the NRA really was interested in gun safety, they would be working to find real ways to reduce gun violence. Their official response: " ."

Thank you for your well-considered reply. I am not one of those who feels that the NRA is nothing but a gun-pushing club. That said, there is plenty of blame to go around, and as the face of the gun lobby, the NRA has, in my opinion, a greater responsibility.

You cite Operation Exile. I am a Virginian, and familiar with the program. I am not familiar with why the program was ended. Those types of details just don’t seem to get published. Was it really the “PC people”, or was it lobbying from people who feel that any gun law is unacceptable? For example, in the 1990s, it became apparent that Virginia led the East Coast in straw purchases of handguns that demonstrably caused carnage in DC and New York. We were embarrassed, and passed a law to restrict purchases to one handgun per month per person. Some people would think that is restrictive, but I don’t know anyone, and I know a lot of gun owners, who feel they need more than 12 new handguns per year. Two years ago, that law was removed. Why? The only “reason” I got out of my local paper was that there were enough votes to make it happen. I wrote to my representatives, who only answer questions they choose to, and who didn’t answer that one.

I will agree that gun laws are wildly variable from locality to locality, and I have no desire to create more laws until the good ones that we currently have are enforced. How much lobbying does the NRA do to have them enforced? (Hint: do they have anything to do with the fact we haven’t had a true head of ATF since 2006?)_Sure, they ask the question, but what do they actually DO?

And, along the same lines as “Why don’t the peaceful Muslims forcefully condemn the radical Islamists?” I ask, “Why is the NRA consistently silent when this type of carnage happens?”

I do not claim to have the answers, but I can tell you that just staring at our feet, saying “tut-tut”, and wishing it didn’t happen will not stop the next problem.

“Your intolerance and hatred is not beneficial”

-Perhaps true, but your irrational belief in a greater power is actually harmful. Who knows may be one day it will tell you to kill others (it has happed before!!).

“you think you are all there is”

-Actually, I think “WE are all there is”, as in humans, as in reality.

I have no issues with addressing mental illness, as far as it goes. Remember, though, that the easiest way that a dictator can “control” political enemies is to declare them mentally ill and throw away the key. Keep in mind also that the official diagnosis of mental illness can vary widely from practitioner to practitioner. Personally, I think Ted Nugent is totally nuts, but that doesn’t stop him from owning a giant arsenal.

Now, this shooter evidently had two incidents where guns were involved prior: one of them had to do with shooting into an apartment below him. I think his ability to get another weapon probably falls into the category of “why aren’t current gun laws enforced?”

And if gun lovers and non-gun-lovers can agree with the question “Why aren’t current gun laws enforced?”, it makes sense that we should find out why current gun laws aren’t enforced. Or is that too unorthodox for an us-vs.-them society?

Yes. Pray for our military bases and our people, but first, demand Congress reverse the Clinton term legal change to “no guns” except for MPs on American bases.-Our military bases make our servicemen/women sitting ducks for a fully armed assassin.-CIC Obama might do well to Executive Order our military be armed at all times, for self-defense in this terror/assassin age. It might even lighten up his Lame Duck Dynasty reputation earned by Obama’s regime.

Per the Second Amendment, National Guard units are quite regulated on who carries guns, and where. What concerns me are the number of folks with a plastic Jesus on the dashboard of their cars, and an arsenal in the trunk…

It is NOT just Muslims and drug dealers packing the heat that kills people. It is indeed often those who cling to “faith”, and firearms, who do the killing.

SWR: well, Kent State certainly proved that even when their CO’s DO still determine when they can carry, or “lock and load”, doesn’t mean the COs aren’t as stupid and poorly trained as the panicked troops they command!

“No place of torment, no place of bliss, no salvation and no sin. Not religious at all.” posted by NightGaunt.-Funny.out of the closet Atheists are rebel Religious….worshipping SELF and EGO and personal “brain power”….-No human on earth can erase what Creator God put into place; the universe, the earth, solar system, stars and moons and planets. God made Man and established a Just Law.For lawbreakers (and sinners/rebels) God Himself paid the Law’s Sin Debt and offered eternal salvation to all who accept God’s adoption into His earthly Family. God also established eternal prison for defiant Atheist rejectors of God’s Grace and Mercy.-No man’s disbelief can void or cancel one iota of God’s Plan and System.-God has always worked “behind the scenes” in mankind’s earthly existence and society. One example is the 1948 todate evidence of miracle after miracle for tiny Israel to defeat enemies and wars caused by overwhelming numbers and governments and wealth….the Arab States who have tried time after time to eradicate the Jewish State.-God has been active in world history. It takes secular arrogance for men to think they were the sole power!

There is some speculation that the structure of space in itself creates matter.
