Thank you, Uncle Joe, for reminding us of the Job Creators whooping it up on the backs of those who are living in the ashes of the pensions and decades of hard work lost in the financial crash and, as we see in Detroit, are still being lost. 21000 Police, firemen, and teachers who have no other retirement options are looking at losing their pensions because car companies moved to other countries or to states that pirated away businesses with promises of tax breaks and other perks. And after moving to the new state, after the tax breaks expire, they just move to another state offering more perks. Texas is spending millions to take jobs from communities in California, Illinois, New York, and other states. In some cases, the businesses that move contribute nearly nothing to the state coffers and all benefits come from the tax revenue and spending of those who go to work, often at lower pay, at the new company. But the damage done in communities that lose those businesses costs the federal gov’t in unemployment insurance, food stamps for people who have lost their jobs, and the small businesses that depended on the workers who had been employed before being stolen away.The Job Czar guy is not wanted by the Republican majority in the house. If the US economy and employment numbers were higher it would make this president, and his party, look better and one thing neither party wants is for the other party to look good to the American people. You have a real entitlement mentality that you are going to have to get over. You aren’t entitled to the company down the road that employs you or your neighbor. You aren’t entitled to take the earnings of shareholders so that you can spend it in your local community.

@Adrian Snare – You are correct – It is our government and it should be supported appropriately. But that government looks very different to various people in this economy.
To those that like their handouts – It appears like a generous and benevolent protector. It feeds, houses, provides medical services, and provides an allowance.
To those of us who are paying higher tax rates it looks like a taker. Yes I benefit from Roads, bridges, hospitals, parks etc. But we see a constant erosion of services from the Federal government (Roads are in bad shape, Parks are being closed, Hospitals are being closed etc.) But the needy continue to get everything they want and at the expense of those of us paying the taxes.
There are several issues that need to be reformed before we worry about campaing finance reform:1) We must expand the taxbase and flatten out the rates. If it truely is OUR government then EVERYONE should have to pay for it’s support not just those of us who toil long hours and lived within our means and now look like cash cows. I advocate for a flat sales tax but I’m open to other solutions. I’m tired of being looked at as part of the 51% or so that become targets for the taxing authority while the other 50% complain that I’m not doing enough.
2) We need to make Federal handouts come from a 1 stop shop. Today the poor and needy go in to various government offices and come out with goodies from each: SSDI, SS, Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare, Foodstamps, Government housing, etc. All of those cost us money. I advocate for gutting the IRS by turning it into a sales tax bureau and then re-deploying those workers at a single agency that determines the handouts that people will receive.
3) We need to reduce the influence the Federal Government has over our day to day lives. The Federal government should be there to support the states but for most of us they should be the invisible hand that guides the state governments. We wouldn’t be having these discussions if they followed the constitution and minded their own business.
After we take care of those glaring problems we can discuss whether the Koch brothers should be allowed to use their money to help out politicians that think like they do.
@Uncle Joe – I gotta say – This anti-CEO crap grows tiresome. I work for a company that is fortunate to have an excellent CEO. He works hard, he thinks ahead, and he keeps our company profitable which keeps me employed.
Lumping CEOs together with financial criminals does a disservice to many good and decent people.
The economy will really start to recover when politicians give businesses better certainty about taxes and regulations. Right now businesses are holding back on hiring because they don’t know how much an employee will cost them next year.

When the number of takers in a community reaches a critical mass it spells the doom for that community. The the people who work and pay taxes take their tax money someplace else where they (The payers) get more for their tax dollar and as more leave the taxes go up on those that stay and they are forced to leave as well.
This is why I keep saying we need to reduce the power of the looters and the takers to destroy communities.
There are some in the community that are genuinely incapable of taking care of themselves: The very old, the sick, the profoundly handicapped. But there are many that live off the public dole because they have convinced others that it isn’t right to make them take care of themselves and be responsible.
As an Aside for those of you who think the only way to take is to be a government dependent: Ask yourself what plane of hell should be reserved for those who:1) Live in a good neighborhood but don’t keep their place looking nice so they lower the property values of their neighbor.2) Move into a neighborhood with good schools for their kids but don’t support their kids academically or discipline them so they bring down the test scores of the school or get the school recognized as unsafe.3) Maliciously sue local businesses and goverments for all sorts of Federal requirements: ADA, etc.
The list goes on but you get the point.
I would like to say politicians are the problem but the real problem is the people who vote in those politicians demanding ever more services and expecting it to come at somebody elses’ expense.
